Former US President Donald Trump recently expressed his disapproval of the possibility of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.The guy running for President in 2024.
In an interview, he gave to The Associated Press on Saturday. Trump said that such an action would be “a great act of disloyalty” This is because he was the one who had given DeSantis a chance. At this time his political life appeared to have been over. He also revealed that he hadn’t been in contact with DeSantis for a long time.
DeSantis has yet to announce his candidacy for the Republican nomination.
Furthermore, Trump has declared his intention to run in 2024. Nonetheless, DeSantis’ popularity has skyrocketed over the past few months, most notably after his re-election as governor.
The President’s comments come as a surprise to many given the strong relationship. Furthermore not forgetting the support that the two had formed over the years. DeSantis was one of the earliest supporters of Trump during his 2016 presidential campaign.
Trump returned the favor by endorsing DeSantis in his 2018 gubernatorial race in Florida. Trump has been outspoken on numerous occasions about his admiration for DeSantis’ leadership skills and successes during his time as Governor.
For these reasons, it is curious why Trump would now consider a presidential run by DeSantis to be an act of disloyalty.
