In a warning to the world, the United States has suggested that India and China may have prevented Russia from launching a nuclear attack on Ukraine.
The US has long held that Russia poses a serious threat to international security. This was with their recent actions in Ukraine only adding fuel to the fire.
India and China’s involvement in this situation could have been key in preventing an escalation of tensions. The tension would have resulted in a nuclear attack.
The US has highlighted the importance of collaboration between countries when it comes to international security and peace. Additionally emphasizing that such cooperation is necessary for global stability.
A Neutral stance between India and China
On Friday, the one-year anniversary of the Ukraine war, the 193-member United Nations General Assembly voted to end the conflict. Of these members, 141 voted in favour of the resolution, seven opposed it, and 32 abstained – including India and China.
India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ruchira Kamboj, firmly expressed India’s commitment to multilateralism. India is also dedicated to upholding the principles of the UN Charter. The diplomat emphasized that India will always advocate for dialogue and diplomacy as the only viable means of resolving disputes.
Despite noting the objectives of the Resolution presented before her at the UN. Kamboj noted that it was limited in achieving India’s desired goal of establishing lasting peace; thus leading her country to abstain from voting on it.
Kamboj, India’s Minister of External Affairs, recently declared that the country’s stance towards the troubling Ukraine conflict will remain focused on the well-being of its people.
He echoed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s sentiment that this era should not be one of war. However ,but rather one of peace and stability. India recognizes the need to help protect and improve the lives of those affected by the conflict and is devoted to finding a lasting solution.
Finally the government is committed to doing whatever it can to ensure that all citizens enjoy a safe and prosperous future free from fear and violence.
