FIFA Secretary General Fatma Samoura Announces Departure

Fatma Samoura, the Secretary General of FIFA, has revealed her decision to step down from her role after seven years in order to dedicate more time to her family. Appointed in 2016 as the first female and non-European in the position. Samoura will oversee the upcoming Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand before officially leaving at the end of the year.

Expressing her sentiments about her tenure, Samoura stated, “Joining FIFA was the best decision of my life. I am immensely proud to have led such a diverse team. FIFA today is more open, reliable, and transparent organization. I will leave FIFA with a deep sense of pride and fulfillment.” She further emphasized her focus on the preparation and successful delivery of the upcoming Women’s World Cup.
