Kejriwal on LG After DCW Chief Admits Being Dragged by a Car and Harassed

Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi Chief Minister, persisted with his criticism of Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena a day after Swati Maliwal – Head of the Delhi Commission for Women revealed that her car was forcefully dragged and the driver made offensive hand signals towards her.

Following more reports, Maliwal affirmed she was not at home, but instead roving the night to assess women’s safety in light of recent events near New Delhi’s All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) when the incident occurred.

On Friday, Delhi’s Chief Minister took to Twitter to share a report about this topic;

“Law n order situation fast deteriorating in Del. LG, and rather than taking steps to improve it, busy playing dirty politics. He has called a series of meetings of Del govt officers today. He has no powers to further meddle and interfere in elected govt’s functioning (sic).”

Last week, matters between the Delhi Lieutenant Governor and Kejriwal intensified significantly.

However, this was particularly with regard to the training of teachers in Finland. It became clear that ultimate control over the Delhi Police lies within Central Government.

The audacity of the bruisers has reached such a level that even the chairman of the women’s commission is not safe. However, the Constitution mandates LG Sahib to prioritize law and order over politics for some days. This will be beneficial in providing peace and security to all citizens.

The Delhi Chief Minister’s latest criticism of the Lieutenant Governor is a clear indication that the after-effects of this incident are likely to persist for some time. Both parties appear to be embroiled in a cycle of blame games.

What is the way forward in resolving the issue?

However, it remains to be seen how the situation will transpire. We also wait to see what steps both parties will take going forward in order to resolve this issue.
